Embarking on the Inception of Connects2Save has been an exhilarating journey, one that I’m eager to share with my sustainability partners. Sustainability, a term that has evolved through generations, prompts us to question not just its existence but its beneciaries – is it for the factory owners, families, or the environment?
In the intricate dance of life, from surviving the baby boomer era to enhancing our livelihoods, sustainability has taken on various dimensions. In the realm of engineering, designs were forged for cost, eciency, and optimization. However, the critical question arises: sustainability for whom? As we navigate the complexities, it’s apparent that sustainable practices are not just a nicety but a necessity for the survival of humanity.
Transitioning from the corporate world to entrepreneurship alongside my partner Subra, we birthed STRAVIK, a startup and optimization consulting rm. Our cumulative experience of over 50 years leading MNCs shaped our optimization philosophy, encapsulated in the 3P + T framework: people, process, policy, and technology. This framework serves as the foundational block for any sustainable practices.
Having been equipped with both practical and theoretical insights from our corporate journey, we are now channeling this wealth of knowledge into creating an application that stems directly from our well-established philosophy. Our expertise initially found expression in eciently launching a Global Business Services startup in Penang. However, as we expanded our scope to local SME/SMIs, we encountered a stark absence of resources that were commonplace in our MNC experience, thereby impeding these enterprises from pushing beyond boundaries.
Recognizing sustainability as a looming imperative for SME/SMIs, we, in collaboration with Dr. Karthi, perceived this challenge as an opportunity. Identifying crucial gaps, such as the absence of integrated energy monitoring and waste management systems, we realized that optimization begins with monitoring. This realization led to the conceptualization of Connects2Save, our innovative application. Our goal was to develop an intuitive, accessible platform, prompting us to adopt a SaaS model for easy integration and transparency.
While initially focused on energy modules, our journey took an unexpected turn. Observing a struggle in capturing Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) metrics, we ventured into creating a digitized online system under Connects2Save. This system aligns with both global and local standards, keeping simplicity at its core by highlighting only crucial information. It automates the calculation of carbon emissions, oering a comprehensive overview that not only covers environmental aspects but also addresses the social and governance dimensions.
Thrilled to announce potential clients have given their approval to testing our tool in their environment. We are now ready to enable SME/SMIs to navigate the ESG wave, recognizing them as major contributors to our nation’s sustainability.
